Technology
Although we have limited access to digital technology, I did try to incorporate technology into my unit.
Working in groups, the students were to define an academic vocabulary word related to poetry. They had to use google to come up with a definition and then use quizlet to enter the information so the whole class would have access to it. According to the SAMR model, technology was used at a modification level, as the students were able to collaborate and work on the word together. Some looked up definitions while some typed, but they could all be editing the definition at the same time.
If we had more frequent access to the iPads, I would have incorporated them more. I would use the iPads to have the students find poems that they'd like to share with the class. I'd also use the iPad to do formative assessments with socrative, so I could have better tracked what progress each student was making on each concept before confirming answers while correcting poem analysis worksheets.
